SC natural horse products

This oil works to relieve anxiety and promote a feeling of assurance and well-being.  The essential oils in this product work to calm the mind and the body leaving the horse to be able to deal with his/her environment. 

We decided to name this oil after the mare we originally made it for.  Lolly is a Thoroughbred mare who has a problem with anxiety, especially when out in public, she would become extremely anxious which would cause her behaviour to be very undesirable.  Her main problems were when a horse that she’d buddy up to had left the float or if she wasn’t close by to other horses, she would become extremely anxious and she was unable to deal with it so she would just go into a panic.  She was also difficult to tack up and she wouldn’t stand still.

We formulated this blend for Lolly by solely targeting the issue of anxiety.

The first time it was used was at an outing and it was applied to Lolly before she left home, again when she arrived at the grounds and a third time after having had a walk around at the venue.

We were as thrilled as her owner when she reported that Lolly was a completely different horse.  She was calm and happy to be tied to the float with or without other horses and she didn’t seem to mind when other horses came and went, she also stood quietly while she was being tacked up. 

After Lolly had been on this oil for 1 month, her owner Jess reported that Lolly is much calmer in herself overall and that she now has a calm attitude on a daily basis.

Because the oil worked so well for Lolly, we decided to trial it on other horses that had mass anxiety issues and when the results were superb, we knew that it would be an asset to add this oil to our product line.

Most anxiety issues stem from a lack of confidence, so this oil can also be used with our confidence blend oil or you of course can try it by itself. 

Instructions

Always try and apply the oil while the horse is in a calm state of mind if possible.  If your horse has anxiety issues on a daily basis, apply this oil once daily for 1-2 weeks.  When you start to see an improvement you can then apply the oil as needed.  Try and nip the anxiety attacks in the bud by applying this oil before a situation arises in which the horse would normally become very anxious over, such as Lolly’s owner did with her outing.

Ingredients:

Made on a high quality base of macadamia virgin oil, grapefruit seed extract and essential oils of cedarwood, clary sage, geranium, neroli, sandalwood & lavender.

 Tranquil oil

 

Tranquil oil works much like our calming oil, but will have a stronger, more sedate effect.  It is ideal to use in situations of shock, a horse that needs to be kept very quiet and settled (eg recovery from injury) or in the training of very difficult horses.  Also useful to have the horse more manageable in situations that they may not like such as clipping, worming, floating etc

 

This oil will not make the horse clumsy or comatosed like a medical sedation but it will really take the edge off their undesirable, unmanageable behaviour.  The horse can still be ridden, floated etc all the things that still require concentration but it will make whatever you’re doing a more pleasant experience for all involved.  Especially useful in training to produce a calmer experience from the start or to re-instate a calm experience when needed.

 

Instructions

Rub a few drops on your hands and rub them around the horses nose and/or neck.  You can also rub around forhead and below the ears.  The effects should take place within 15 minutes but usually sooner and often instantly.  To increase the effect, you can rub a few more drops at a maximum of 3 times in 10 minute intervals.

Allowing the horse to inhale the oil from the bottle will give extra affect.  Experiment with dosage - some horses may only need 2 drops, others might need 10.

If possible, apply BEFORE anxious activities such as training, floating, clipping etc, rather than waiting for a blowout before you apply.  The oil will still have affect if applied when the horse is already tense, but a great affect if applied before this occurs.

 

The effects of the oil will help to really settle and calm the horse by reducing the main causes of undesirable behaviour – neurosis, anxiety, nervousness, shock, panic, fear etc.

It is a handy item to have in a first aid kit to calm traumatized animals.
